Easy MTD (and Easy MTD VAT) use a token based system for submitting VAT returns. One token enables you to submit one VAT return using Easy MTD.
Cost of Tokens
The cost of each token is dependant on how many tokens you purchase in a single batch. The more you buy the cheaper they are. £2 +VAT per token is the lowest amount you can purchase a token for but that does mean buying a batch of 100 tokens. If you're buying just one then it will cost £5.99 +VAT.
It is entirely up to you how many tokens you buy at a time and there is no other cost involved when using Easy MTD (or Easy MTD VAT).
Obtaining a Free Token
If you sign up for an Easy MTD account you will receive a complimentary token that will enable you to submit your first VAT return for free. After this, you will need to purchase tokens to submit further VAT returns.
Shelf Life
Tokens do not expire and remain in your Easy MTD account until they are used.
Token Compatibility
Tokens can be used to submit VAT returns using Easy MTD and Easy MTD VAT. They can also be used to submit Income Tax quarterly updates and make final declarations using Easy MTD.
